For players

Pick a trail race by its climb, not just by its distance.

Trail races publish a route map with the climb on it, so fifty kilometres in the mountains stops reading like fifty kilometres on a towpath.

Finding one

Distance is half the question. Terrain is the other half.

Two races at the same distance can be four hours apart on gain alone, and a flat number tells you almost nothing about your day. The route maps here render terrain and elevation, so you can judge a race before you commit a season of training to it.

Getting in

Some fields are capped by permit.

Where the land manager caps the field, entry runs as a lottery with a claim window rather than a scramble at nine in the morning. Where it does not, entry and waiver happen together at checkout as normal.

Before you turn up

What the trail run you enter has already settled.

Every one of these is decided by the organizer before entries open rather than argued about in week three, and whatever they have settled is on the event page under “What is set” — so you read the rules before you enter, not at the field on the first night.

Aid stations, drop bags, crew and pacers are not fields here. None of that is recorded or managed by us, and neither are cutoffs — they exist in the race's own rules and on the day, so the race is the one to ask.

Common Questions

How does a lottery entry work?
You enter the draw rather than the race. If you are selected you get a claim window to pay and confirm; if you do not claim it, the place goes on. It is how a permit-capped field is allocated without rewarding whoever had the fastest connection.
Where do I find the cutoffs?
In the race's own description and rules, not as a structured field. Cutoffs matter enormously and they are set by the race, so they are stated there rather than in a box here that might disagree with the roadbook.
Do I need an account to look around?
No. Browsing is open to anyone — leagues, clubs, tournaments and races are all readable without signing in. You only need an account to register for something, because a registration has to belong to somebody.
How does paying work?
Registering and paying are one step, by card. Where the event asks for a waiver you sign it in the same checkout rather than printing it and carrying it to the field. The money goes to the organizer running the event rather than sitting with us until the season ends.
What if I do not have a team?
Races, tournaments and open days take you exactly as you are — one entry, one person. A league season is entered by a team, so instead of registering alone you list yourself as available to play and the teams that are a body short come and find you. Nothing is paid until one of them takes you on.
What happens if it is already full?
For a race, a tournament or an open day, a waitlist place confirms itself the moment somebody drops out. A league season queues by team instead, and the side that comes off the queue gets a window to settle the entry before the spot moves on. Where the field is capped by permit, entry may run as a draw with a claim window instead.
Something went wrong with my registration. Who do I ask?
The organizer first. They run the event, they can see your registration and they are the one who can change or refund it. If you cannot reach them, we will help — but they are faster, because it is their event.
What do I keep afterwards?
One profile carrying every registration, result and standing, across every sport you play here. A season of kickball and a spring half marathon sit in the same place rather than across two organizers and a timing company.
